Pelosi: I Don’t Care If You Want It or Not

leave a comment »

Once again, Pelosi shows us her hand and tells us how much she doesn’t really care about the will of the American people.  According to Rasumussen, 56% of Americans today don’t want the Democrat idea of health reform.

But Nancy Pelosi doesn’t care about what Americans say, as this article shows.

Previous to this post, I talked about the sham of a publicity stunt by Democrats about how they are reaching across to Republicans to get health reform done, asking GOP members that, if they offered any good ideas, they would listen to them.  Obama said it this last week, Pelosi this week.  And the GOP has constantly provided ideas, but the Dems have automatically wrote them off, even before consideration.  It’s pretty easy to say that the GOP has no good ideas to consider when they get dropped before any consideration.

But the point here is, once again, to note that Nancy Pelosi does not care about what the American public wants or doesn’t want.  Instead, she is only concerned with ramming some sort of Progressive bill through and making the public pay for it.

That bag has got to go.

Obama’s Flip-Flopping on Space Causes US to Cede Leadership

leave a comment »

As we all know, the NASA Space Shuttle program is heading for the mothballs and there is at least a five to seven year gap in the wait before the US has something else to replace the Shuttle, if anything gets funded in the interim.  So in the meantime, we’re gonna be hitching rides on Russian spacecraft for any missions to the International Space Station.

Obama has been of two minds with regards to space.  First, he was against giving money to NASA, mostly because Bush was for it.  Then, as he was on the stump in Florida, he had to circle back and change his policy so as to not anger the thousands of people at Kennedy SC who would lose their jobs as a result of the loss of the Shuttle program.  Obama probably wishes he didn’t say this:

We cannot cede our leadership in space.  That’s why I will help close the gap and ensure that our space program doesn’t suffer when the Shuttle goes out of service by working with Senator Bill Nelson to add at least one additional Space Shuttle flight beyond 2010; by supporting continued funding for NASA; by speeding the development of the Shuttle’s successor; and by making sure that all those who work in the space industry in Florida do not lose their jobs when the Shuttle is retired – because we cannot afford to lose their expertise”

Now, this movie was taken some time ago.  But as of Feb 2, the budget for 2011 cancels the only hopeful program to return the US to space, the Constellation program which would create the Orion and Ares rockets designed to replace the Shuttle.

So, there is no follow-on project for the Shuttle.  So far, he has at least delivered on the funding and planning for the “one more mission”, but that’s not going to really help matters if the Constellation program gets mothballed.

Oh, and about those jobs – well, just released was a news article that estimates that now 23,000 people are expected to lose their jobs once the Shuttle flies it’s last mission – 9,000 in the Space industry, and about 14,000 others from businesses that rely on the existence of the Shuttle work at the Space Center.

And additionally, when the Shuttle lands for the final time – so will our leadership of Space.  We’ve led the space program since the ‘50s when Eisenhower, then Kennedy, then Johnson pushed for dominance into space, beating the Russians to the moon (which they have yet to go there).  And we were supposed to go back, but that plan is shelved, pretty much indefinitely,   NASA will be spending the time looking over computer models and learning lessons – but we won’t have the capability anymore of putting a human into space.  The future of the US space program, at this point, looks pretty bleak.

How’s that hope and change now, good people of Florida?

Congress Hits A New Low

leave a comment »

Well, it was only inevitable – the so-called 2006 mandate that ushered the Democrats into power and culminated to the 2008 win of Barack Obama has now shown that it was dismally unable to deliver on any of its misguided promises

In 2006, the GOP lost the farm, not because of a rejection of conservative ideas, but because of the liberals and moderates that have infiltrated the Republican party.   The GOP showed itself not much different than the Democratic party, not because of the failure of the parties, but because both have been swayed by stupid progressive values and programs that seek to rob power from the people and give it to the all-powerful state.

Since the GOP lost its distinction as being the “party of Reagan”, the “conservative choice”, and basically reneging on the Contract With America that hoisted the GOP into power in 1994, they have recently showed that they are just as willing to spend ridiculous amounts of money on entitlements and earmark projects and do very little to protect the traditional family.  They have sought to sit in the middle and try to appeal to the more moderate people in the country  (which I defy anyone to show me a true moderate without showing me someone who is conflicted in their beliefs)

Well, today we’ve been informed by Rasumussen that Congress’ approval rating is about ready to fall into the single digits.   More and more Americans, Democrats and Republicans are showing staunch disapproval for the job that Congress is doing.  Perhaps it’s for different reasons, such as the libs railing that they couldn’t get health care passed while the conservatives look at the Congress as a cesspool for progressivism.  Either way, more people are unhappy than happy these days.

I get the feeling the hammer is about to fall on Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats that remain in Congress after November 2010.  Harry Reid is doomed, three others (Dodd, Bayh, and Dorgan) are jumping ship, and the Dems are looking worse and worse everyday for their respective elections.

The tide is about to change…

Health Care Summit – More of the Same

leave a comment »

Obama has no intention of actually listening to what the GOP is saying because the GOP has already been saying it – and he’s been ignoring it.

I’ve been listening to this debate regarding the re-address of the health care reform effort and I can’t really say that I’m surprised by the whole thing.  It’s really a big partisan fight, when you get down to the brass tacks.  And despite Obama’s efforts to demonstrate a change to the way things are done in Washington, he’s only showing that nothing ever changes.  This is the latest example.

Obama decides to call both parties into the room in a make-shift summit to discuss the health care reform – which is admirable.  But then, today, he announces the Obama plan, which is really nothing more than the Senate’s plan with a few tweaks here and there. In a sense, it’s "more of the same", the very thing that got the Dems into the pot of water that continues to get hotter and hotter.

So rather than actually starting a meaningful round-table about how to make health care even better in this country, Obama and the Dems want to dictate to the GOP members in the room what the plan will be.  Obama has no intention of actually listening to what the GOP is saying because the GOP has already been saying it – and he’s been ignoring it.  The whole point here is to break the partisan bloc and gain some sort of validation for the plan that more than half of Americans simply don’t want.

If there is to be any real reform, it should be started by thoroughly going over what the problems really are.  After the problems have been identified, then we look at ways of solving each problem, piece by piece.  Both the House and Senate, and now Obama’s plans have been a solution in search of a matching problem.  This is not an over-simplification of the matter – it’s the common sense answer to the solution to any problem.

And as conservatives have noted before, the problem that the Dems are attempting to solve isn’t about ensuring that all Americans get health care, since not all of them do under either the Senate or House plans, but rather, the problem is how to push the country to Single Payer coverage.  Progressives are all about growing government and using that power to influence people to the progressive will.  A government run single-payer system forces the people to comply with the government’s mandate, which would be, optimally, pushed by the progressive agenda, rather than allowing people to make their own decisions about their source of health insurance.

If I was the chair of the GOP, I’d tell President Obama that no GOP member is going to this summit until there is a solid promise of starting over, from scratch, with an assessment of what the problems are.

Oh, and make sure all of that is televised on C-SPAN – like Obama promised.

Doctored Photo – Obama’s Skills

It really just speaks for itself, yanno?

Which is interesting because much of the country now things he’s done after one.  Maybe the Dems will raise up a primary challenger – seems they’re doing a bit of that now that Dems are quitting the Senate and some of the ones that are staying are facing primary challenges.

Doctored Photo – Archmage Napolitano

Sometimes, when people get their picture taken, the ramifications usually result in a mockery…

I was told that Big Sis looked like a Romulan with that gray coat thing…I was thinking she was going for archmage…so I gave her a hat…

I’m sure her scrying modifier is pretty high these days…with all the blogs, tweets, cell phone records, and whatnot to go through.

You’re Just Now Figuring This Out, Jay?

leave a comment »

Funny stuff, here.  Senator Jay Rockafeller is saying what we on the Right/Correct/Right side have been saying since…what…2006/2007 when we first heard that Barack Obama was thinking about being President, and then campaigning?

Hindsight wasn’t the only thing that was 20/20 with Obama, Jay.  When Obama started talking about giving 95% of Americans a tax cut, and the “not one dime” pledge during the debates, every time he spoke, I kept saying, “yeah right, dude”.  When he told us all about how he wouldn’t sign any bill with earmarks, and then put the porkulus bill in play, a bill with over 9000 earmarks, well, I wasn’t sold on his faerie dust.

So, congrats to Jay, as he is just now starting to wake up from the liberal-induced coma that comes from the hyperbole.  Hope the Kool-Aid hangover doesn’t last too, long, buddy.

Assorted Rabidity

with one comment

I’ve been in a generally foul mood lately.  Those that know me know I’ve not been a particularly fun person.  And once in a while, I have to let out some rabidity.  So, I’ve trolled through the news headlines to fine a list of things at which I can throw bricks.

1. According to Crazy Uncle Joe, Iraq is one of Barack Obama’s greatest achievements.  You have got to be kidding me.  The guy who campaigned on how much he was opposed to Iraq and everything about it, they guy who believed the surge would actually make Iraq worse, contrary to what happened, now deserves credit for it?  I swear, every time Biden opens his pie hole, the complete opposite of common sense comes out, like it’s some sort of anti-language.  And what was Obama thinking in making this dork our Vice-President, anyway.  Most of the time, the Veep is supposed to not say anything – just do his job.  Maybe, once in a while, give a speech at Columbia U. or something.  I sorta wish Biden would do neither.

2. Conservatives have been telling people for years – when you give away free money, you essentially are fertilizing corruption.  In Polk County, Florida, there was a plan in motion, which got kaboshed for now, to give disabled kids a free iPod Nano, courtesy of Uncle Sam and Presidents Bush and Obama.  The idea was interesting on paper, but when the parents filed to get the nifty device, the parent would keep it for themselves, rather than giving it to their kid.  Since it was a foregone that these kids wouldn’t have any idea that the Porkulus bill had a little somethin-somethin for them, well, no harm, no foul, and mom or dad get a new iPod player out of it.  Like we didn’t see THAT one, eh?  Nancy Woolcock, the assistant super at Polk County Schools thinks these kids deserve a free iPod, on our nickel.  So where’s MY free iPod?

3. Once again, Obama is “playing the middle” regarding tax increases.  I’m sure he realizes they are a completely bad idea in a recession, and he even campaigned on not raising taxes “not one penny”.  But now, he’s “agnostic”about sticking it to the middle class to reign in the federal budget.   Seems we’re closer now to seeing the middle class have to pay for the bloated spending of the government – their only crime was electing a collection of idiots who were effectively responsible for jacking up the bill.

4. I used to like Bill Nye, the Science Guy.  He was hip, for being an egg-headed scientist.  He helped make science cool for kids.  However, today, he’s just another political hack liberal doofus.  Turns out, Nye now believes that if a person denies climate change, that somehow, the person is ‘unpatriotic’.  Lately, the ‘unpatriotic’ card has been thrown around a lot, saying that if one person doesn’t do this or that, that somehow, they don’t love their country enough.  To me, it’s like that high-maintenance girlfriend that says, “if you don’t buy me that $2000 purse or take me to the Caribbean, even if it breaks your bank account, then you don’t love your me”.  There is only one way to deal with a high maintenance girlfriend – kick her sorry rear to the curb and let her be someone else’s parasite.  Same solution here.

Nye also said that it’s easier to sell the theory of anthropogenic global warming to younger generations since ‘older people’ have a harder time with the concept.  Hey Bill Nye, I’ve got something for you – it’s called SCIENCE – maybe you’ve heard of it.  Science doesn’t need to be ‘sold’, just told.  We put it all on the table, not just the stuff we wanna hear, like that sideshow in Copenhagen a few months ago.  Older people don’t have a problem with the concept; it’s the lack of real proof and discourse that they don’t like.  Younger people can be more easily fooled by Al Gore’s carbon credit Snake Oil.

Silly rabbit. Tricks are for kids.  (yeah, I meant to spell it that way)

5.  Finally, more big brother stuff.  Turns out that the Obama Administration is opting to track cell phones, citing the point that tracking cell phones does not violate the intents of the Fourth Amendment protections.  I sorta think it does, given that the Fourth Amendment was intended to protect people in their persons, homes, papers, and effects.  Since cellular phones have become a very personal device, it would seem very much so that they would be protected.  In fact, in 2008, the Electronic Frontier Foundation successfully argued before the federal court in Western Pennsylvania that the Government would require a warrant before a cell company would be required to release tracking records.  Of course, this amuses me because members within Obama Administration have gone through great lengths to express their displeasure with the Patriot Act, a number of provisions which have ventured dangerously close to the Fourth Amendment line.

I wonder if Big Sis Napolitano wants to use warrantless cell phone tracking to keep an eye on all of us conservatives, which, according to her, deserve to be on government watch lists.

Sigh – and just as I get this rabidity out, there are more things on which to comment.  Onwards and upwards, eh?

Fat Kid Jimmy or Ali Al Kaboom

with one comment

This just has to be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard.

Yesterday, Michelle “First Time” Obama*, rolling out ObamAd Inc’s new initiative has unilaterally said that fat people are a threat to National Security.

“A recent study put the health care cost of obesity-related diseases at $147 billion a year, this epidemic also impacts the nation’s security, as obesity is now one of the most common disqualifiers for military service.”

What “First Time” doesn’t get is that why we have to have a military in the first place, because we have people in this world who want to bring harm to this country and the people in it.  Rather than actually go after the real reason why we have National Security issues, that is, because we have terrorists smuggling bombs in their underwear, shoes, bras, or whatever, Michelle is railing on fat kids.  While she mentions obesity, the Let’s Move program is aimed specifically at obese children in public schools.

There was always one fat kid in school that got picked on.  Maybe his name was Billy, Timmy, or Susie.  In our example, we’ll call him Jimmy.

You’d always see Jimmy walking around, with a packet of Oreos or a bag of potato chips in his grasp, feasting on high fructose corn syrupy goodness, after putting away an artery clogging, heart stopping, triple cheeseburger, with onion rings and a 44 oz. Coke.

But one thing we never thought of Jimmy – he wasn’t very threatening.  When he got mad because people picked on him, he’d try to chase you, but Jimmy couldn’t run more than 20 feet before gasping for air and doubling over (like that was a sight we ever wanted to see).  Jimmy would cry, go home, and drown his sorrow in a family size bag of M&M’s with a 2 liter Coke chaser before playing Nintendo for six hours straight to help him cope with his image issues.

But evidently, Michelle Obama thinks Jimmy is a threat to the security of the United States because he can’t join the military.  He couldn’t scale a wall higher than three feet, but he can certainly the folks at The Pentagon a bit worried.  Michelle Obama is worried about it too.

But when the aptly named “Fruit-Of-The-Kaboom” bomber attempted to blow up a plane by hiding the bomb making materials in his BVD’s, the Obamas were soaking it up in Hawai’i.  But did they cut their vacation short in the face of an act (albeit failed) of terror?  Not a chance.  However, had George Bush pulled something like that, he’d be read the riot act by the liberals in Congress.

Perhaps the only thing stupider than all this, and this is quite a reach, is the Harrisonburg Police Department bringing felony charges against two, 21 year olds, for throwing snowballs at cars.  Evidently, the actual charge is that they are “throwing missiles” (unlawful shoot/throw)

Well, that’s it then.  Fat Jimmy is a threat to national security.  Lob a snowball at him.

Just when liberals reach their maximum levels of stupidity, they find a way to push the envelope of the ridiculous.

* Quoting Michelle Obama: “For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of this country.”, which is just as amusing that she’s the First Lady.  Magnus the Dog tells me he likes the nickname.
