Rabid Rant: Leave Fat People Alone

leave a comment »

The other day, on my way home from work, I was listening to a guest host for the Tom Sullivan show and while I only heard a little bit of the discussion, I did hear this:

What can we do to combat obesity in America?

Now, without all the context, it really did make me think – and from a Rabid Conservative perspective

Why don’t we just leave fat people alone and let them live their own lives?

Conservatives today are on the message of less interference in people’s lives, particularly by the government.  So to be consistent, I asked the question, “Why do anything about obesity at all?  Why do we have to do anything? Since when did it become a priority?

What, since Michelle Obama makes it a priority to take the cookie bags out of the schools and replace it with carrot sticks, because SHE feels people need to eat better?  Since when does Michelle Obama get the right to judge?

What, since Michael Bloomberg decides that it isn’t right that a person can buy a soft drink bigger than 16 ounces, so he outlaws it by legislative and executive fiat, as if he is an arbiter on health?

The way I see it, it’s these people who are hell-bent on “combatting obesity” that have the problem with it. The person who is obese may have the issues with self-image, physical health – or they may not! I personally know a number of obese people who love who they are and being “large and in charge”.

Anyone hear of Gabriel Iglesias?

Obese people, like everyone else, rise and fall by their decisions. If they choose to not eat healthy, not exercise, and not control their weight, then they have to live with the consequences of that. But this entire thing is built around emotionalism and a dislike for fat people.

Society today is really to blame for this – by telling people that if they don’t conform to an “ideal weight”. that aren’t “acceptable”. Our entire media and social culture is crafted to promote this – for the sole purpose of making money. Rather than the message of acceptance, society makes fun of derision (cases in point, American Idol, The Voice, and reality shows). All of this noise is carefully crafted to guilt people into changing into something that is more agreeable with the faceless “society”.

So what do we do about obesity in this country? Nothing on a national scale. We need to stop with all of this “war on obesity” stuff and encourage personal responsibility. The government can no sooner even aid in combatting obesity than it can to change the climate (as if so-called global warming even exists). The government does nothing particuarly useful but consume resources and argue with itself about who gets what tax dollars that are ladled out on the population.

Conservatives need not fall into that emotional trap either. Mind your own business and leave fat people alone. It’s not for us to judge, so it’s not for us to fix.

Democrats Politicizing Tragedy – Again

leave a comment »

First, all of us at The Rabid Conservative, writers and readers alike would like to express our deepest prayers and expressions of concern to the folks in Oklahoma City that have been affected by the tornadoes this week.  May God bless and comfort you during this time as our country stands up to help wherever it can.

That being said, I would like to take this time to deal out some castigation for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse D-RI, who decided to use this tragedy as a platform to rail against the GOP regarding so-called global warming.  Instead of just simply offering his sympathy and support, this Democrat decided to rant:

“You drag America with you to your fate. So, I want this future: I want a Republican Party that has returned to its senses and is strong and a worthy adversary in a strong America that has done right by its people and the world. That’s what I want. I don’t want this future. I don’t want a Republican Party disgraced, that let its extremists run off the cliff, and an America suffering from grave economic and environmental and diplomatic damage because we failed, because we didn’t wake up and do our duty to our people, and because we didn’t lead the world. I do not want that future. But that’s where we’re headed. So I will keep reaching out and calling out, ever hopeful that you will wake up before it is too late.”

You unbelievable scumbag.  While we all have our differences regarding things like the economy. diplomacy abroad as well as domestic matters, talking about the so-called ‘fiscal cliff’, and the like, this is not the time to attack the GOP.  Seriously?  How dare you dishonor those who died with your political diatribe?

And this thing may not yet be over.  This area may still have more of these to deal with, and rather than sounding calls to help those people, you sit in your nice Washington office and gripe at your political opponents while people are asking for aid – saying we’re ‘in this together’:

“So, you may have a question for me. Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care if we Republicans run off the climate cliff like a bunch of proverbial lemmings and disgrace ourselves? I’ll tell you why. We’re stuck in this together. We are stuck in this together. When cyclones tear up Oklahoma and hurricanes swamp Alabama and wildfires scorch Texas, you come to us, the rest of the country, for billions of dollars to recover. And the damage that your polluters and deniers are doing doesn’t just hit Oklahoma and Alabama and Texas. It hits Rhode Island with floods and storms. It hits Oregon with acidified seas, it hits Montana with dying forests. So, like it or not, we’re in this together.”

You offend me, sir.  These folks don’t need your rants – they need prayers and support.  If we are so much “in it together”, then when can we expect that you will arrive in Oklahoma to help the people there?

Yeah, we didn’t think so either.

IRS: Was There Any Doubt?

leave a comment »

Today, I have to sit on the phone for a while with the IRS – had a boo boo on my return that needed fixing.  No biggie, I’ll just sit here and listen to their elevator music while I write this article, watching the firework plumes get bigger as we see that IRS’ scrutinizing of right-wing groups has been pretty extensive..

And then, there is this story where IRS not only was beating up conservative groups who criticize the government, but also, someone on the inside leaking the National Organization for Marriage’s confidential donor information, specifically, that Mitt Romney’s PAC had donated to NOM.

Churches for years have had this “gag order” where their tax-exempt status would be threatened if they spoke anything remotely political from their pulpits.  Now my church has three words for them: bring it on.  There’s a growing sentiment that if a church actually gets it’s tax exempt status pulled because of what it preaches, that it will trigger a First Amendment lawsuit under the free exercise clause.

And then, there’s the insanity that’s coming with respect to ObamaCare(less).  Turns out, with next year’s return, there will be an additional form – a form that will require the taxpayer to submit information about their Qualifying Health Plan, to ensure that we’re all complying like good little drones.  That’s going to really increase the nightmare

Is all this at all surprising?  Not really.  This is the kind of strong-arm political machinery that has Chicago written all over it – and namely Obama.  This is the way that Obama knows to do politics and is the Chicago way.  Or do we all think Rahm Emanuel is such a great and up-standing guy?

Well, an hour later and the call just wrapped up, so I will stop writing.  The lady asked graciously thanked me for my patience and asked if there is anything more she could do for me.  My response, “No, ma’am – I think y’all have plenty of other business and other customers to get to.”

Bad Journalism: We Can See Why

leave a comment »

We’re getting the big story wrong, over and over again.” – Scott Pelley, CBS Anchor

No surprise in those statements, which were delivered to listeners at Quinnipiac University.  Sadly, we see Scott Pelley lamenting about how the media just keeps getting things wrong, and yet, if these people would just get back to the basics of journalism, reporting the news, all the news, wherever and however it is, no bias, no nonsense, we would actually have a decent media in this country.

There are the two big reasons in my mind:

1. The Main Stream Media is way too involved in the political machinery of the country.  Whether it be left or right wing (and it is really mostly left wing here), journalists aren’t reporting the news; they are working to further a political agenda.  This is why we’re not hearing stories about Kermit Gosnell and we’re not seeing huge amounts of motivation to investigate and report on the entire Benghazi thing.  But when Todd Akin makes his classic flub concerning “legitimate rape’, one that USA Today has since reported he would take back, the media rips into that like a pack of hungry wolves to a pile of meat.

2. Journalism today is not about reporting the news, it’s about making money through sensationalism and deep investigative analysis, which really just equates to some anchor droning for eight hours during a crisis that requires “continuing coverage”.  And yes, all the major news organizations do this, because it’s about viewership. But there are lots of stories to report – thing is, we don’t always see them, particularly the good news. What we see are stories that are meant to grip and hold us to the television for eight hours.

I’m sure there are other reasons, but these two are the biggest.  It’s a shame really, because people today are getting away from the major networks and going to the internet, because the journalism field just isn’t what it is.  Perhaps, Scott, if journalism was more about getting to the heart of the truth, without hiding anything from the public, without worrying about the ratings, we would see a rebirth in the Nightly News.

I’m not holding my breath.

Saturday Rabidity: Hollywood Really Sucks

leave a comment »

A friend of mine shared this video with me and I laughed right out loud.  Thing is, this the norm for good web videos these days. While they are basically short, they represent far more creative energy than what comes out of Hollywood these days.

And why is that? In my mind, it has to be the competitive edge that drives the quality bar up. Any more, Hollywood is based on the controls of the Screen Actors Guild and the crazy ad revenue that keeps only a privileged few as the sources of so-called quality entertainment. Meanwhile, those who possess some very creative talent are marginalized.

This article, albeit dated some, illustrates how people seem to be more interested in YouTube than OTA or Cable subscription programming. Forbes also released this article how people are going more and more to Zero TV.  I’ve actually been this way for about three years now.

Why?  Because there is only so much stupid-crap-drama, reality shows, and zombie/vampire schlock that I can watch before I actually want to read a book…about economy or ancient history, or something.

Big O: Mexican Gun Violence is Our Fault

leave a comment »

So, today, the Apologizer-in-Chief indicated in his visit to Mexico indicated that the violence in Mexico comes from the proliferation of US arms.

Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States…

So then, Mr. Obama, does that mean you and/or Eric  Holder take responsibility for the Fast and Furious then?  Do you guys now admit that because of the gun running to Mexico, the killings south-of-the-border are your fault?

Yeah, I thought so.

Anyway, time and time again, liberals want to dismiss the notion that violence is something that comes from the human heart.  While guns are effective in carrying out horrific acts of violence (and no one on the right denies this), the issue here is that it is not America’s fault for the Mexican gun violence.  It’s those in Mexico who pick up a weapon, American, Mexican, or whatever, and cap someone.

Never mind the dozen or so drug cartels out there that fight with each other, the police, and government task forces for control of the 30-35 year old prize of controlling the narcotics in Mexico.  Never mind the gang rapes going on in Acapulco that, no doubt, are a major contributor to the reason why this famous resort town is now dropping off the hotspot list.  No, incidents like this stem from the ‘vast amounts of US guns that pour in over the border – faster than the illegals pouring back into the US.

Violence in Mexico is because the people there have turned to violence.  Divesting them of guns won’t stop the violence because guns don’t create violence.  People do.

But it’s always Obama’s policy to blame the world’s problems on us.

In other words, business as usual.

To my friends.

Planned Parenthood – Planning Inhumane Evil

leave a comment »

So another undercover camera operation in Arizona documents a visit to a Planned Parenthood clinic and continues to expose the barbarism that is abortion in the late second trimester (25 weeks).  Notice how skiddish the abortionists get when asked questions relating to the humanity of the baby (which is dehumanized by their use of the term “fetus” – which is Latin for “baby”).

Interestingly, the article from Wikipedia about digoxin says this:

Digoxin is also used in abortions to ensure the fetus is not delivered alive. In such cases, it is injected directly into the fetus while still in the uterus.

In other words, the article writer says that the fetus is “alive” while still in the uterus, but to prevent it from being delivered alive, they give it a lethal injection of this compound to stop the heart.  In other words, killing it outside the uterus is okay because it’s not “human”.

Notice Alisa LaPolt Snow, a Planned Parenthood lobbyist wouldn’t answer the question of what happens if the baby is born alive.  She did know the answer – they inject it with digoxin outside the womb and then send it to be cremated, just like Dr. Laura Mercer, OBGYN out of Phoenix, noted.  In other words, Snow was clearly lying.

And the American public still is giving Planned Parenthood over a half a billion dollars per year – to destroy inconvenient human life while they hide behind obscuring terms and hedging lobbyists.

* I dedicate today’s post to Ms. Joanie, a dear sister in the Lord, who passed away on the April 23.  Her love for the Lord and zest for life will be missed by all who know her.  I say “know” because we will see each other again.  God bless, Joanie.

Pentagon May Court Martial Soldiers Who Share Christian Faith

with 5 comments

I can hardly believe that the Pentagon would criminalize soldiers who would share their faith.  People like Mikey Weinstein represent the evil in this country, for idiot crackpots like him would put George Washington in the stocks for sharing his faith with his soldiers – a faith that kept hope alive for those wintered over in Valley Forge.

And the haters of God and Christ call us intolerant, declaring us enemies of the Constitution and no better than sex offenders.

Random Bricks – Gays, so-called Racism, and Over Sensitivity

leave a comment »

Today was a deluge of articles that just made me want to vomit.  Once again, people out there without a spine or backbone, obsolete causes, and irrelevance overrode the news, without a whisper about what that little burr-head in North Korea is doing, the Kermit Gosnell trial, or, heaven forbid we even talk about this, the economy.  So, out come the bricks.

  1. Michelle O gets an iTunes Fashion App – Who gives a crap? Seriously…what relevance does that have to the rest of the world?  Total waste of good programming capability, honestly.
  2. Gitmo Hunger Strike – The way I see it, if the prisoners don’t want to eat, well, put the food in front of them and then walk away.  It would certainly help the Big O cash in on his promise to close out Club Gitmo.
  3. Morehouse College un-invites a speaker for criticizing Big O on his cabinet choices and then denies it.  This coming from the self-purported “all-male, historically black” college.  Sheesh, why the heck do we keep on allowing the minorities a pass on this entire racism thing?  Why do we NEED an all-black college?  Or do we continue to give it a pass while the idea of an all-white college would be basically anathema.
  4. Gay Athlete’s Hall of Fame – Riiiight, because we really need one of those too.  The way I see it then, how about a heterosexual athlete hall of fame?
  5. Liberal Female Activist Student Fakes Hate to Implicate Conservatives – So this chick tried to create a stir by creating an anonymous poster who wanted to engage in hate sex with her.  Barely tolerable an article to read, but in looking at her photo, well, I just don’t see it.  But yet, she’ll get a pass on this.  If a conservative did this, well….yeah we all know.  It’s heavily one-sided.  Eww..
Not even heavily drunk or stoned – not for hate or any other reason.
  6. 15% Pay Hike for Company Loyalty = Get Inked – Really?  And 40 people have done it so far.  talk about professional gung-ho.  Idiots.

Finally, out of all the idiocy, Robert Griffin III, the Redskins QB better known as RGIII had this to say on his Twitter feed::

In a land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness – Robert Griffin III

Amen, brother.  Turns out, just today, a fella got mad at me when I passed by him and another and said, “G’day, boys.”   He said, “I just hate being called a boy”, as if I was implying the racial pejorative.  I replied then, “It’s not the worst thing to be called.”.  He got even more livid – as if I was about ready to drop the “N” bomb on him.  Yet, at no time was I

I apologized, told him I meant no offense and especially meant nothing racist by it – that was the LAST thing on my mind.  But his very brittle sensitivities showed that the issue with intolerance is more on the offended.  I get so tired of the stale and obsolete cries of racism – over sensitive, requiring everyone to basically roll over when someone gripes about “hurt feelings” or “:not paying attention to one’s sensitivities”.

Cry me a river, you weakling jack-wagons.

Stay Rabid, my friends.
