Interventions for ObamaCare Holdouts

leave a comment »

I keep the radio on at night to help me sleep; I don’t do so good in silence. And sometimes, I hear what’s on the radio, even if I have already sailed off to Neverland. It’s weird listening to political radio when asleep, but it’s sometimes amusing.

So I heard the guys on RedEye talking about a somewhat funny commercial about inviting your family members over for Thanksgiving to talk about not having health coverage.

I thought it was a bad dream, so I looked it up and lo, and behold. An article from USA Today talks about it.

In other words, the idiots at Organizing for Action want the ObamaDrones to start doing what basically amount to interventions. So, if you’re an ObamaCare holdout, or like me, opting out of the whole thing and giving the IRS the big middle finger, beware, because now you might get pulled into your front room and have an intervention done.

I can see the sight, weeping parents crying, “how could you, son, go without health coverage” with the liberal choruses trying to guilt us all into it by using those arguments like, “we’ll have to pay for your coverage”. But this entire effort is designed to try to fan the grassroots to get more people to start giving themselves over to ObamaCare.

Well, I’m not going. ObamaCare can go spit and all supporters can take a long walk off of a short pier. I like my liberty too much to give it away for someone else’s entitlement.

And to the fathead who came up with the idea, go ruin someone else’s Thanksgiving. I’m too busy watching football then to discuss failed socialist legislation.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

O’care Website – Epic Fail

leave a comment »

So, it didn’t take much for all of us to watch as the O’care website flopped right on it’s face.

With three years and over $300 million, it’s astonishing how people aren’t being sent to the unemployment line, beginning with that battle-axe Kathleen Sebelius. She was put in charge of all this and it’s been nothing but a colossal disaster.  So as the HHS sorts out all the brouhaha, I have a few points of my own.

1) I talked a couple times already on this (here, and here), and wonder why more people aren’t asking the questions. We’re supposed to have the best IT in the world, and yet, we can’t make a functional website? Or is this just another shining example of government ineptitude – focusing on bureaucratic constraints and organizational needs, rather than customer needs. Vincent Flanders of Web Pages That Suck talks about this on his website (here)

2) Why did HHS opt to use CGI Federal to build the website after Canada fired them? That doesn’t make a dang bit of sense, particularly since the project that CGI failed to do with slipped deadlines and the like was much smaller. Either HHS didn’t know and didn’t vet them properly or they did know, which suggests something more insidious.

3) If Sebelius was smart, she would have contracted with a website design firm right here in the USA.  You see, we’re all natural-born capitalists and building a functional website that could sustain millions of hits per day should not be that difficult. Perhaps Sebelius should have contacted the developers for Amazon or eBay.

What do you think?

To my friends.

ObamaCare Website Failures – Intentional?

leave a comment »

Now this borders on conspiracy theorist, but it does make a lot of sense.

Question: Did the government engineer the Heathcare dot gov website to purposely obscure the costs of premiums?

It might make sense, given the previous commentary from Aetna’s CEO about how the code drop only happened last month and they government would “fix it on the fly”. That level of sheer incompetence does border on the intentional – they had three years to get it done! It didn’t take other high volume websites that long to come online and meet the demand.  But it certainly did for the ACA’s website.

Or maybe there were some who felt that it wasn’t going to work out anyway, so rather sink a lot of website development costs into something that people would effectively reject, they’ll just take the money and produce a pathetic product.

There’s also the thought that government web developers are so incompetent – that that’s why they’re in government – they got fired from civilian, for-profit gigs.

I don’t know.  But I’m quite sure that, as not many Americans have actually signed up for ACA as ObamAd, Inc would like, not disclosing the costs of ACA to the public without signing up would not be in the best interests of the Administration. The aim is to get you to sign up, not to have you see the costs, get “sticker shock” and then walk away.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next step was to start signing everyone up automatically.

I Bet If It Was Amazon…

leave a comment »

If there is one thing I like about, it’s the fact that they know what is important and what isn’t.  And they know how to build a system that doesn’t take years to construct, cost tens of millions of dollars to get working, and isn’t buggy as crap. Instead, they know how to take the ample time to prepare for a good system rollout.

But according to Aetna’s CEO, Mark Bertolini, code drops for the site showed up within a month before go-live. Mr. Bertolini indicated, though more diplomatically than I would, of how much that ObamAd, Inc was hell bent on getting the project launched on October 1 and that all the testing now was “on-the-fly”.

So in other words, it was more important to get it out there, rather than getting it right.  That is the same madness that has driven the entire ACA in the first place.  Nancy Pelosi wanted to “pass it to see what was in it” and then she wanted to “fund it before we could fix it”. Obama and the rest of the Congressional jackasses were refusing to negotiate on anything because this is “signature legislation”. It’s all about “getting the framework into place” rather than actually having a working solution.

Many of my friends are in IT, systems designers, enterprise architects, web developers and code jocks. All of the ones I’ve spoken with in my circle find the entire thing laughable. And then I bring up Amazon and it puts it into perspective, because if they were really about business, it wouldn’t nearly be this nightmarish.

Typical government idiocy.

Another Reason Why I’m Opting Out

leave a comment »

Not that ObamaCare is a train-wreck and a travesty to the health care industry in general – as well as a Socialist killjoy to free-market medical coverage, but now, I have another reason:

Identity Theft

Turns out we have a story out of Kansas of a so-called ObamaCare Navigator (someone who is supposed to help people unable to figure out O-crap-care’s inner workings) who has a history.  Rosilyn Wells of Laurence, Kansas has:

1) An outstanding arrest warrant
2) History of writing bad checks
3) A bankruptcy
4) An outstanding tax bill of $1700

Yet, ObamAd, Inc has her on the rolls as a Navigator.

Thing is, Navigators have privileged access to people’s personal data. And with a woman like this, one who has a pattern on financial issues, it would seem to me she has no business being a Navigator.

But how many people out there are on the rolls as a Navigator, yet don’t engender the trust worthy of such a posting? How many scammers are out there, just waiting to abuse their privileges. It’s too easy.

So, where I certainly wasn’t interested in getting scammed by the new insurance mandates, now, I don’t even want to be near them. I’m trying to keep what little money I actually have.

No thanks – I decline.

Obama is Weak – Needs Harry Reid to Lead Democrats

leave a comment »

Once again, Obama has showed us all how much of a wuss he is. Rather than getting some real gravitas and leading the Democrat response, he is handing it back over to the old stubborn goat

1) He can’t stand getting mucky-muck on himself, knowing full well that the Dems own the shutdown*.  Since they don’t get what they want (the ACA), they are willing to continue the fight between House and Senate.  They want Boehner to cave so they can have every little socialist program they can get.

Thing is, Democrats don’t know how to stop spending.  They simply refuse to properly deal with the problem – stop spending.  Instead, they want more money from an already hurting middle class, since they won’t get enough from the so-called rich.

Shutdown – as if.  Right now, financially, over 80% of the government is still operating without a beat.  Or is there any particular reason why DoD civilians went back to work today?

2) Harry Reid has already dug in and said “no negotiate”.  Since that sack of manure has already showed us that he is willing to swat away any bill that the Senate won’t vote to the left on, he is just simply wanting the GOP to collapse its argument.

The only high side here is that Obama is pushing this back to Congress, saying that it’s Congress’ job to get him a bill for him to sign (or that he is willing to sign).

Either way, the Dems are all showing that Obama now is a limp-wristed pantywaist of a President who has no grit.  I wonder if Harry Reid has to wipe his rear too.

Losers, all.

Stupid People: ObamaCare or Affordable Care Act

leave a comment »

The best cure for anger is laughter.  And right now, here’s something worth laughing about.

So Jimmy Kimmel decides to do a “man-on-the-street” interview that asks the question, “Which plan is better, ObamaCare or the Affordable Care Act”.

The thing is, the conservative message is getting out there.  People are more and more against ObamaCare because it 1) forces them to buy a product they don’t want, 2) is socialistic, 3) full of holes.  People are seeing these things, but through the ObamaCare nickname, the people are basically being fed a strawman argument.

Consequently, these people are for the Affordable Care Act (lol!) because it 1) allows kids to stay on their parents’ insurance plan until they are 26, 2) forbids denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions, and 3) require companies that have 50 or more employees to provide insurance for their employees.

So, let’s watch how the “informed” American public compares the two “very different” programs.
