Rationalized Violence

leave a comment »

It seems to me that the radical Islamic anger is very much like the same kind of anger as being demonstrated in Ferguson, MO.

We’ve been watching copious amounts of violence in the last few weeks, between Hamas and Israel fighting things out and the growing levels of violence in Ferguson. And I don’t know about you but I see a lot of parallels based on the notion of “justified hate”, or “rationalized violence”.

In fact, they’re beginning to look a lot alike, which is kind of scary.

Radical Islamists have been at it for centuries. Ever since Mohammad made the first appeals to begin raiding caravans in 623 because he felt justified in his perception of Meccan oppression of early Muslims, Muslims have always used violence as a means to an end – first to end oppression, then as a means of subjugation and conquest (the driver for the Islamic State), Muslims have always referred back to verses like Quran 22:29 and 22:39-40 that permit oppressed Muslims to fight if they are oppressed.

Where I take issue is how very easily that Muslims claim “oppression” and justify their violence. It’s pretty much become a natural reaction for them – claim oppression, cite the Quran, throw a brick, bomb a plane. And then when the oppressor becomes the oppressed, the roles reverse and the cycle continues.

Sound familiar?

Michael Brown raided a convenience store to steal some cigarillos and got physical with the clerk, despite his reported overall gentle nature.  Darren Wilson was, no-doubt unaware that Brown had robbed a liquor store, but I can see how someone who just committed a violent crime would be hostile towards police. As the testimony alludes, Brown attacks the cop, pushes him into the cruiser, they both fight after the gun; gun goes off, Brown runs, cop yells “freeze”, he turns on the cop, cop puts him down.

Then the “rationalized violence” ensues because it was a white cop and a black perpetrator. Al Sharpton starts preaching his hate sermons again and riots akin to the LA riots over the beat down of Rodney King ensue, because of the message of how black people are still “oppressed” – or at least the ones protesting certainly feel that way.

But it seems to me that in both of these situations, whether it’s groups like Hamas that feel like they have to launch rockets into Israel, or ISIS beheading Americans or a group of thug punks throwing bricks through storefront windows, they believe their violence is justified, despite what anyone else thinks.

This is disturbing, particularly in Ferguson where they are calling it “Civil Disobedience” – even though there is very little in the line of civility where a Molotov cocktail is involved.

So where am I going with this? Not too sure – perhaps it’s only to draw the similarities to see what can be learned by it. Is it because people are oppressed or they just feel that way?  Is it oppression or a deep seeded sense of entitlement that has been preached to them all their lives that says they are entitled to loot businesses or decapitate someone?  Am I drawing comparisons that thread into a wider view of the human condition?

What do you think? Post below in the comments. This should be interesting.

To my friends.

I want to take a quick second and congratulate my friend and fellow blogger Lady K on her newest writing gig with OUTSET Magazine. She presently writes for Pocket Full of Liberty and various other places, commenting on culture, politics, anti-feminism, and of course, coffee (very important here at TRC). Remembering Shorty

leave a comment »

I never had the privilege of meeting him.  We’re not even within 1000 miles of one another and  a good chance we have never been.  But tonight, this post goes out to Mr. Delbert “Shorty” Belton, an 88 year old, WWII combat veteran, who was wounded in action during the Battle of Okinawa.

Delbert-Belton

There aren’t many of our WWII vets left – men who were there to tell the tales that most of us will only read about in history books.  They are a treasure within this nation.  Men of valor and courage who stepped up when their country called them to service.

Shorty, though, died this morning, after succumbing to his injuries as a result of a merciless attack by two punk kids.  According to Spokane police, Mr. Belton was beaten down by two African-American kids, ages somewhere between 16 and 19.

Shorty, according to his friend Ted Denison, was the kind of guy who would be your friend in minutes.  A nice guy who loved working on cars and shooting pool.  He survived being shot in the leg during the war.  He worked for 30 years in an aluminum plant.

And two piece-of-crap punks beat him down.  There was no reason for it.  They just killed him.

Why?  What did Shorty do to deserve this?  He deserved to be honored as a war hero, just like all of our other soldiers. He deserved to enjoy the fruits of his labor in the country he bled for. And he deserved to leave this world in peace, honorably, and with the love of a grateful nation. He didn’t deserve what happened to him.

And you know, Obama will say nothing.  Sharpton will say nothing. Jackson will say nothing.  They have been yammering on and on about hate crimes and yet, they will quietly let this one pass.

I won’t.

My blog may not have a lot of readers, or get a lot of attention in the mainstream; it never was intended to be much more than my way of venting about the nonsense of the world.  But The Rabid Conservative won’t just let this one go.

This was clearly a hate crime, and it’s time for those who were angry about the Trayvon Martin incident to step up and show that they aren’t hypocrites.  If we’re going to make a big stink about racial hate, then I think it’s time that we start being consistent.

Before we lose more heroes like Shorty.

China Should Outlaw Cars and Knives

with 2 comments

This article almost escaped my notice, but luckily, I was able to catch it and get it posted. Turns out some Chinese dude in Beijing drove his car into some middle-school students, injuring 13.  He was upset over how a court ruled in the murder of his daughter that he felt it necessary to mow over some kids.Image

Now this is no laughing matter.  Whether it’s in the US or in China, when kids get torn up by some psycho, we all grieve – they are the innocent ones.  Luckily, there were no fatalities in this incident.

But this article also demonstrates that it didn’t take a gun to bring danger to children.  The article also cites that because guns are not allowed by the Chi-Com government, knives are the weapon of choice.  On Dec 14, 23 elementary school kids were stabbed in another spree.

So, because of this, the Chinese government should begin the process of outlawing cars and knives (as well as firecrackers, since those were used in this latest incident).  Since we’re all currently hell-bent on believing that outlawing things (such as guns) will reduce the amount of violence against the innocent, I am forced to now conclude that cars and knives are as dangerous as guns and therefore should also be outlawed.

Right?

Yeah, I can hear all you libs now, going off about my latest absurdity illustration, but if we’re going to be consistent, then let the outlawing begin.

More Stuff You Won’t See at a Tea Party Rally

leave a comment »

…but you see it at an Occupy protest…

  • Occupy Atlanta: Tuberculosis?? And you would think with all the “amateur pharmcologists” roaming about, they would be prepared…
  • Occupy Burlington: Shooting in Vermont.  And we were led to believe it was a “peaceful assembly”.
  • Occupy Wall Street: EMT gets a broken leg.  Medics have always been in harms way – why stop now, right?
  • Occupy Portland: Eviction notice.  Mayor Sam Adams has had enough of the crime and the homeless moving in.

Again, when have the Tea Party protests ever been kicked off premises for drugs, shootings, public sex, and become fetid cesspools of homeless and disease?

The Main Stream Media’s willful ignorance in this is astonishing, but not exactly unexpected.
